I remember one great memory from camp concerning The Blob.
I went to camp in Hume Lake, California. Lots of great water sports on the lake of course, kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing. Hume also had a large feeder-pond just upstream from the lake. It was in this pond where one could find... The Blob.
Now, I'm not sure exactly what The Blob was... I remember is was yellow, red, and blue. It was some sort of giant, 16-foot long, plastic, inflatable, giant-sized pillow. Of course the whole point of The Blob was to catch MAD AIR.
Picture The Blob, floating end-out on the pond. The Blob floats about eight-to-ten feet above the water. Above the giant air-filled beast is built a staircase, and what looks like a wooden high-dive towering above it.
The point was for a camper to climb the staircase, jump off onto The Blob, and try and not fall into the water. Once you were situated, you climbed your way out to the end of the akward thing, and waited. Once you were in place, one of the larger camp councilers took a giant leap off the high dive and when he hit The Blob the camper on the end went flying 10 or 15 feet in the air, and splashed down into the pond.
